Comprehensive Health Checks and Screenings

How healthy do you think you are, and how healthy are you really? Find out with a Comprehensive Health Check with one of the GPs who consult at HealthMint.

We have seen time and again that a person can have health issues, sometimes serious issues, that either haven’t been noticed by that person, or the person has noticed symptoms that “aren’t quite right” but hasn’t yet had the diagnosis and treatment they need. Sometimes these issues aren’t detectable without clinical testing, and if picked up early, can be managed before they become harder to treat.

The doctors who consult at HealthMint want to address this, to make sure you are as healthy as you can be. Or at least let you know if you’re not – and what to do to improve your health.

What is a health check? And what should I expect in a health check?

Think of your body like a car, which needs to get regular checks to keep running smoothly. Just like you get your tyre pressures & fluid levels checked, so does your body need regular checks. Doing so can help pick up issues and fix them before you end up with a car that breaks down and could be very costly to repair. The human body has its own set of things to measure and problems to watch out for, before they become difficult or impossible to repair. If a car struggles to run well after 10 – 15 years without a servicing, how is your body going to make it another 40, 50, 60 years without some detailed attention?

There are scheduled health checks, known as Health Assessments, offered under Medicare for certain age groups (people 45-59 at risk of chronic disease and people over 75).

Some of the doctors who consult at HealthMint have also developed their own ‘Health Check Up‘ appointment types that are applicable for anyone of any age or stage. The Health Check-Up appointment covers suggested items listed in the GP Red Book on Preventative Health Care. The GPs developed checklists of topics to cover depending on your age/stage and gender. This appointment isn’t intended to resolve every niggle or concern you may have, but to ‘look under the hood’, follow up on investigations and tests if need be and identify a forward plan for improving your health status and preventing disease. You may need to return following this appointment to review results from tests and delve deeper into anything uncovered in the initial Health Check Up appointment.

Reasons to get a Health Check:

1. Prevent and lower your risk of health issues

2. Be up to date with vaccinations, screenings and assessments for your age and gender

3. Know your family history

4. Maintain a healthy lifestyle

5. Establish a healthy relationship with your Doctor

By getting a comprehensive Health Check with one of the GPs who consult at HealthMint, they can fully measure, assess and diagnose your current state of health. They can tell you how well your body is doing, what personalized risks are relevant to your future health, and what can be done now to optimize your health – including any conditions you might not even realise you might have.
