GP’s don’t formally diagnose ADHD and rather that is done by a psychiatrist. GPs however do provide assessment, referral, and ongoing care/ prescribing of any required medications.
Can a GP prescribe ADHD medication?
Yes — under a shared care arrangement, once a psychiatrist has diagnosed ADHD and approved GP prescribing.
What if I don’t live near the clinic?
You don’t need to be right next door to access our care.
We regularly support patients across Melbourne’s eastern and south-eastern suburbs and can absolutely help coordinate your ADHD assessment and ongoing management, even if you’re a bit further away. Our goal is to make care as accessible and practical as possible, without unnecessary barriers.
What if I already have a GP?
We’d love to support you with all aspects of your care, and in many cases we can also become your regular GP if that’s the right fit for you.
However, if you already have a GP you know and trust, that’s absolutely fine. If your current GP doesn’t provide ADHD prescribing or specialist ADHD care, we can manage that part of your treatment while you continue seeing them for your general health needs.
